This pendant is hand-sewn together by the founder of Caps Brothers using sterling silver thread – a technique invented by and exclusive to Caps Brothers. The included chain is tested multiple times for durability and is soldered into an endless loop which eliminates the need for a clasp.
Through years of innovative exploration, Caps Brothers has created a metal sewing technique unique from any other jewelry in the world. Multiple layers of metal are sewn together creating an unmistakable exposed-stitch design. The result is a remarkably rare expression with exceptional beauty and texture.
The map side of the pendant is part of a baby's footprint taken the day of birth. This map represents travel and unity amongst all people on Earth. It is also an expression of new life, freedom, and biological form.

When I first met Matt he was just starting his journey honoring his brother through wearable art. The compassion with which he told me his creation story touched my heart. There is a quality to Matt's presence that beams with deeper meaning. It's not only that he never fails to surprise his audience with the nuggets of knowledge he drops, but everything he does and makes expresses the underlying connection to our life force and to each other's souls. I feel privileged that I've been able to watch Matt's journey from our first meeting to where he is today as an incredibly skilled jeweler (and metal worker) and an even more beautiful human being.
I have several pieces from Matt, but my Sun necklace (and Ghost necklace) are my favorites. I wear them everywhere, on every type of adventure. The durability of his work is unparalleled. These pieces are meant to be worn and loved wholly. I never worry about damaging them in the pool, ocean, desert, snow or sunshine. The fact that this jewelry can endure everything my body endures makes me cherish them even more. To acquire one of Matt's creations is to obtain a work of art, enhanced with a story and a community behind it.
I came across this piece at Miami Art Basel. I picked it up, and it was nothing I had ever seen before. The entire piece is handmade, and the craftsmanship is so intricate. The chain is the strongest chain ever, and I can wear it confidently everywhere knowing the piece will stay in great shape for a long time. I had to have it. So much joy, confidence, and compliments have come my way wearing this piece. This was my first, and I know I will be back for more pieces from Caps Brothers.
